The concept of a day job is that you go to work Monday through Friday, 9-5. You can’t wait for the weekend and you do your best to forget about your workday the moment you shut down your computer or leave the office. That’s just no way to live, and I’m betting that this is one of the reasons you clicked on this post.The truth is, quitting. your day job has NOTHING to do with whether or not you’re employed. It is all about ceasing to think about your career as your day job.

Day Job = blah
Career = AWESOME

The difference is in the mindset you apply to the work you do. Sometimes you’ll have job you don’t like, will appear to have nothing to do with what you’d like your career to be. Do you waste 8 hours of your day just “doing your day job”? Or do you spend your time making connections, learning from those in more advanced roles, and honing your skills?

At the end of the day, this “day job” is going to be on your resume. You can utilize it to show a future employer new skills you’ve gained, how you brought value, and how that job suddenly became a building block of your career.
